George Bush is a cock! Hardly earth shattering news I realise, but having just seen the man himself on the news, “talking tough” about the Russian invasion of Georgia I have been compelled to “vent”. I thought Georgia was an ally? They certainly thought so! Yet Georgey Boy just talks. That arse Gordon Brown is as bad! Where is he? On his freaking holiday is where! Mmmm, so we are spending billions in Afghanistan and Iraq, invading soveriegn states & fighting wars that the British public generally do not want, but when one of our allies is invaded we do nothing. Oh yes we talk tough but we “DO” nothing. I am disgusted, depressed, but not at all surprised. I am sorry Georgia, Britain (and that twat Bush!) has let you down.

Forgive the Cliif Richard intro. A crap song in my humble opinion but the title works as an intro into this post as we all get ready for a family break on my fathers vineyard in Italy. 10 days away in the beautiful Italian countryside, sipping wine, eating well, getting some sun on these pasty English bones. I simply can’t wait. The only downside thus far is all of the pre trip preparation that is going on at present. As I run my own business (have I told you what I do yet?) I am totally obsesses about getting everything as up to date as possible before I leave. Almost all worry amounts to nothing but that won’t stop me thinking I am missing something vital that will result in me losing money if I don’t prepare for it!  God I need a holiday. I have been working for myself for the last 18 months or so with a fair degree of success, but one thing I had not appreciated before about “going it alone” was just exactly how hard you work. Not because you really have to, more because you want to. I am working longer hours than I ever did whilst working for others, but to be fair, I am an obsessive control freak and to be honest, I love it!

Anyway, the house is a hive of activity. My wife is busy packing, my son is busy keeping out of her way and I (aside from taking a few minutes to type this) am getting my business all “Ship Shape & Bristol Fashion” so that whilst we are away I can actually “unplug”, “chill-out” and “recharge”. I am hoping a few days away will result in me coming back like a sun tanned electric eel, but we will see! Anyway, I had better go, I have flip flops and shorts to find! What a scary sight I wil be to the local farmers! An Englishman abroad! All white legs and crap fashion sense! Ha ha!

Currently I am sat at home watching the BBC coverage of the Olympic Games from Beijing. It’s yet more coverage of the swimming events. I am not sure which distance or heat (hardly suprising as there seems to be hundreds of them in swimming) but the field as always seems dominated by Americans. Oh my God! The American Didn’t Win! What happened? Is he not well? Was it fixed? Is he not trying as it is only a heat? I have become so accustomed to American dominance in pretty much every sport that it actually seems like something is wrong when they don’t win! By comparison, if a Brit comes third, the country collectively wets itself with excitement! I am not impressed. Give me a gold medal for Christ sake! Then I will get excited!
